About the role
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in developing and implementing advanced manufacturing processes for electrical assemblies, including bulk cable, wire harnesses, conduit assemblies, and electrical box assemblies. This role focuses on creating innovative solutions that align with customer requirements and industry standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production. Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing manufacturing processes, conducting root-cause analysis, documenting procedures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.

With a solid background in electrical and mechanical engineering, you excel in problem-solving, process optimization, and technical documentation. You’re proficient with CAD tools, familiar with quality standards like ANSI, Mil-Specifications, and ISO, and comfortable collaborating across departments to ensure project success. You’re driven by opportunities to implement new technologies and contribute to the success of high-impact programs in the Military, Aerospace, and Commercial markets.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide engineering technical support and design input for projects
- Conceive, develop, and implement manufacturing processes for bulk cable, wiring harnesses, conduit assemblies, and various interconnect/electromechanical assemblies that fit Vermillion’s technical expertise
- Provide a wide range of technical and management expertise in the various aspects of manufacturing
- Technically document procedures and processes
- Provide an interface between operations, sales, and engineering functions
- Ensure that requirements for efficient processes, practices, and technologies for manufacturing are addressed on a timely basis
- Plan for and implement new programs and products into production in a timely and cost effective manner
- Prepare and present relevant information for make or buy decisions and program reviews
- Identify potential manufacturing-related risks on new and developing programs; develop risk reduction plans to eliminate them
- Define tooling and manufacturing requirements for new programs
- Develop cost and operational justifications for acquisition of major tooling
- Provide technical support to the shop floor for immediate corrective actions
- Provide input as requested for manufacturing-related portions of cost estimates for new and continuing programs
- Technically document procedures and processes
- Develop new automated processes utilizing the latest technology
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Quality, Program Management, and outside vendors to set and meet schedules that will accommodate customers’ delivery requirements
- Conduct root-cause analysis and propose corrective actions for continuous improvement
- Actively participate on RPI (Rapid Product Improvement) teams and 5S workshops
- Provides resolutions to manufacturing problems including, but not limited to, processes, machines, or programming problems
- Supports facility and corporate strategic goals
- Creates and conducts structured training for manufacturing personnel as assigned
Qualifications
- A four-year technical degree (e.g. BSEE, BSEET, BSME, BSMET, or equivalent) required
- At least two years experience in manufacturing required; cable/harness industry preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Proficient in technical writings and good documentation skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications required
- Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively and establish priorities
- CAD, AutoCad, and Inventor Professional Series experience preferred
- MRP system experience
- Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, including Microsoft Access
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Working knowledge of quality workmanship standards (i.e. ANSI, Mil-Specifications, ISO)
- Conform to U.S. export control regulations with eligibility for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
- Have clear vision at 20 inches or less (with or without the use of personal corrective eyewear or a company-provided magnifying glass) in addition to color vision in order to identify and distinguish colors
