Senior Design Engineer

Design Engineer - Direct Opportunity – Shape the Future of Advanced Aircraft Innovation

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Design Engineer (Direct Hire) to support a leading organization in the aviation industry. This full‑time, onsite role is based in Wichita and requires you to resolve complex design challenges, support aircraft modifications, and contribute to cutting‑edge engineering projects that push the boundaries of innovation.

What You’ll Do

• Investigate design and build issues to develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions.
• Author temporary engineering instructions to resolve build issues quickly and accurately.
• Disposition aircraft non‑conformances (MRB), including developing rework instructions.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines.
• Design flight test engineering change requests and collaborate with work package owners.
• Create engineering documentation to define structural special instructions or restrictions.
• Design and release structural and systems installations for special missions programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience.
• Minimum 20,000 hours of CATIA V5 experience.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5 Workbenches: Assembly Design, Part Design (Boolean Operations), Aerospace Sheetmetal.
• Experience supporting manufacturing and aircraft modifications.
• Experience leading a team of engineers.
• Special Missions or Aftermarket modifications experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies to U.S. Persons and certain foreign nationals who have received an export license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Tubing Design, Kinematics, and Electrical Harness Routing.
• Experience using ENOVIA LCA or Teamcenter PLM.
• Experience with Siemens NX.
• Additional aircraft or manufacturing experience.

Pay Details

$96,000.00 to $113,000.00 per year
