This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

As an engineer on the Automation team at Spirit AeroSystems, you will be responsible for designing, building, and testing innovative solutions for Spirit’s most challenging Automation projects.

Position Responsibilities

Gathers and documents the problem statement and associated engineering requirements

Conceptualizes solutions to challenging problems

Uses 3D CAD software such as CATIA or SolidWorks to generate parts and assemblies

Validates mechanical designs through simulation and proof of concepts (POC)

Develops documentation such as manufacturing drawings and bills of materials (BOM)

Collaborates with electrical and mechatronics engineers on complex designs that require electrical systems and programming integration

Effectively communicates status and results to team members, management, and customers

Contributes to a collaborative team environment.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Wichita, KS location.
