Position Summary
The IT Director leads technology strategy and operations, ensuring secure, reliable, and cost-effective systems. This hands-on leader oversees infrastructure, Microsoft 365, business and litigation applications, cybersecurity, support, telecommunications, vendors, purchasing, and continuity planning while advising leadership on technology decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a practical technology roadmap aligned with business goals, risk, and budget priorities; advise leadership on investments, security, continuity, and process improvement.
- Administer Windows servers, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, networks, firewalls, storage, backups, endpoints, printers, conference-room technology, and related infrastructure.
- Manage Microsoft 365, including Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, access, licensing, multi-factor authentication, retention, Purview, and eDiscovery.
- Support NetDocuments, document and PDF tools, litigation and presentation applications, remote-support platforms, telecommunications, and system integrations.
- Establish and enforce security policies; manage endpoint, firewall, email, phishing, monitoring, and backup protections; lead incident and outage response.
- Provide user support, onboarding, training, access changes, and secure offboarding for employees, clients, visitors, and remote users.
- Manage vendors, contracts, budgets, purchasing, warranties, subscriptions, assets, licenses, renewals, domains, and technical documentation.
- Lead upgrades, migrations, implementations, security initiatives, and office technology projects with minimal disruption.
- Prepare and support exhibits, file conversion, presentation and playback technology, courtroom setups, connectivity, and contingency plans for hearings and trials.
- Maintain policies, procedures, inventories, recovery documentation, licensing compliance, and disaster-recovery and business-continuity practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Five or more years of progressive, hands-on IT experience, preferably in a small or mid-sized professional-services environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange, Entra ID or Active Directory, Windows systems, networking, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, backups, telecommunications, and user support.
- Strong troubleshooting, project and vendor management, purchasing, organization, judgment, and communication skills.
- Law firm or litigation experience and familiarity with NetDocuments, Purview, eDiscovery, courtroom technology, managed service providers, and security tools preferred.
- Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, ITIL, or PMP certification preferred.
Work Environment and Availability
This office-based role supports multiple locations and remote work settings. It requires planned after-hours maintenance, 24/7 on-call availability for urgent needs, and occasional travel to courthouses, hearings, trials, client sites, and vendor locations.
