The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive year-long initiative designed to equip you with hands-on experience, fostering essential clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Graduate Nurse Resident, you'll be supported by experienced nurses, nurse educators, and fellow residents, creating an environment conducive to learning and professional growth as you transition from student to Registered Nurse.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Wesley Medical Center is here to empower your transition into the hospital environment. As a paid participant, you'll engage in:

  • Advanced training in a specialized clinical area.
  • Monthly educational sessions to enhance your knowledge.
  • Personalized preceptorship with an experienced nurse.
  • Simulation training for skill assessment.
  • Guidance from seasoned nurse leaders.
  • Collaborating on an evidence-based practice project.

As an RN Resident, you'll coordinate and provide exceptional, patient-centered care, adhering to departmental standards. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you'll offer comprehensive, empathetic care using nursing models like Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. Advocating for patients and families, you'll contribute to a remarkable patient experience.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Assessing patient conditions during admission and throughout shifts, reporting changes in status.
  • Administering procedures and monitoring patients as per medical directives, with timely documentation.
  • Providing prescribed medications and monitoring for therapeutic effects, addressing any adverse responses.
  • Delivering exceptional care by proactively addressing patient needs and responding swiftly to requests.
  • Educating patients, families, and caregivers on medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up care in accessible terms.

Qualifications required

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Valid Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State.
  • No prior experience necessary.
  • Some travel may be required for training.
